    Hi there Monokai,

    sorry for bugging you all over again for the same reason many did before.

    But you are my last resort, since I have just bought Monoslideshow script, and there is no way for me to manage to display south-slavic latin characters in utf-8 encoding in my slideshow.

    These characters are Č č Ć ć Đ đ, and characters like Š š Ž ž are there, but it looks like these are in standard ASCII character table, so they work any how ...

    What I did is that I took my Helvetica.dfont (I am on Mac OS X), and created helvetica.ttf font file.

    Than I took swfmill and tryed to create fonts swf, here is my font.xml:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <movie width="1" height="1" framerate="40">
    <frame>
    <library>
    <font name="helvetica" import="helvetica.ttf" />
    </library>
    <Import url="mss/fonts.swf"></Import>
    </frame>
    </movie>

    after that I have created fonts.swf using:

    ./swfmill -v simple font.xml fonts.swf

    and after that I have copied fonts.swf to same folder where I have monoslideshow.swf, as well where is my watermark.swf and monoslideshow.php (I create xml on the fly from database)

    But when I upload all files to server, it is not working, I can not see these characters :(

    Here are preferences from php generated xml file:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <slideshow>
    <preferences
    fontFile = "mss/fonts.swf"
    font = "helvetica"
    showLoadingIcon = "false"
    showAlbumsButton = "false"
    showThumbnailsButton = "false"
    showImageInfo = "always"
    imagePause = "7"
    imageInfoColor = "ec121a"
    imageInfoAlpha = "80"
    imageInfoRoundedCorners = "0"
    imageInfoShadowAlpha = "0"
    imageInfoAlign = "bottomCenter"
    imageInfoTitleSize = "12"
    imageInfoTitleFont = "helvetica"
    imageInfoTitleContainsNumber = "false"
    imageInfoDescriptionFont = "helvetica"
    imageInfoDescriptionSize = "18"
    imageInfoPadding = "5"
    imageInfoMarginX = "0"
    imageInfoMarginY = "0"
    albumWindowRows = "4"
    albumWindowColumns = "4"
    albumSpacing = "2"
    controlAlign = "topRight"
    controlRoundedCorners = "0"
    controlAutoHide = "true"
    controlAlpha = "80"
    controlLineWidth = "0"
    controlShadowSize = "0"
    controlShadowAlpha = "0"
    controlIconRollOverColor = "ec121a"
    markFile = "mss/watermark.swf"
    markAlign = "topLeft"
    markMarginX = "10"
    markMarginY = "10"
    />

    what am I doing wrong?

    please, can you help me?

    I would gladly send you anything you need, but as I read before, you were asking for swfmill FLA file, but I dont have this one, maybe you can tell me how to create it for you, to help?

    Thanks!

    p.s.

    One thing I have noticed: No matter what I create in fonts.swf, like if I put name "arial" and use "arial.ttf", when I say in preferences that I want to use that fonts.swf file, and title and description font named "arial", I get blank title field, on the other hand, when I use that same fonts.swf (with arial inside), but I put title and description font name "helvetica", title is showing, but still without characters I need ... strange, like monoslideshow is not looking at fonts.swf at all?

    heeeeeelp :)

    Gandalf,
    I don't know anything about embedding fonts, but others had the same problem with Slavic (or German, for that matter) characters. The problem lay in the encoding of the xml. There are most likely many ways to change that, the one I know is to use Notepad++ (free download), open up your xml and then, under "format", select "UTF-8 (without BOM)". This is completely independent of the first line of the xml!

    Hi christophvl,

    Thanks for your insight, I will try that too, but I am on the Mac, and there is no Notepad, but my XML is dynamic generated by PHP from MySQL database, and its first line states that it is UTF-8, and when I "view source" of this XML in Firefox I can see all characters correctly so I doubt that that is problem.

    I guess problem is Monoslideshow reading these characters from XML, and displaying them in Flash. And I have tried almost anything there, from using Flash IDE to create fonts.swf, to using swfmill, but nothing helped.

    I will try your solution cause I am a bit desperate at this moment, and will let you know how it went, but still, Monokai, if you can reach out and help, I beg you :)

    Best, G.

    Still nobody? All these days?

    Monokai? I would like to have your attention please, at the end, I have bought your product, and basic support is expected ...

    Or to tell me that this what I want is not possible, so I can say that my money is wasted, and to start look for another slide show product? Any recommendations from community here?

    Thank you and all the best!

    G,

    Gandalf, I think the problem lies in the fact the the font name specified ("helvetica") is not the real name for the font. Have you tried using "Helvetica" (capitalized)?
