I noticed that jwimagerotator (now called longtailvideo) has an add-on for sending events to Google analytics. Is anything like this possible with monoslideshow?

In a very complicated way, I think - you would have to call up .php files instead of .jpg in the xml which in turn call Google analytics and return the original image. There are more sophisticated (and more expensive :-) statistics tools out there that can monitor file usage, which - put upon the images - would give you what you are most likely looking for.
