Hi Guys,
I'm really keen to buy your image slideshow, but I would like to know if it is possible to have the caption text 'selectable' with the mouse cursor but more importantly so that it can be picked up by the Search engines and I can possibly wrap h1 tags around them?
Any advice would be great thanks!!
Tim
Timbo,
the caption text resides within the xml and is invisible to Google & Co., there is nothing to change that.
You need to stick to less sexy HTML-slideshows to make them indexed by Google.
Christoph
okay, thanks Christoph. I've found out that G is now able to officially index flash text :)
I've got it all working now with swfobject 2.1 and all is looking good, except that the player doesn't seem to accept the following params:
<code>params.menu = "false";
params.base = "/mss/";</code>
I am definitely implementing these lines correctly as <code>params.bgcolor = "#00ccff";</code> is working.
Any ideas...I'm very confused? I accept that re the base, it could be I need to put the exact path of my server folders. The main issue for me (although it may seem trivial) is to get rid of the long flash menu and replace with the shortened version.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim,
what works for me (and with swfobject 2.1) is <code><param name="base" value="2008_5/" />
</code>
Worth a try?
Christoph
Great, thanks will try that.
EDIT:i don't think i can use that actually, as you don't need to use 'object' with the dynamic publishing option on SWFObject.
Any ideas on disabling menu?
Timbo,
I don't really understand what you mean - do you mean the little 4 icons "Thumbnails, Stop, Next, Previous"? That can be disabled by parameter inside the xml.
Christoph
I mean, when you click on a flash movie it displays a long list of options...eg: Zoom In, Zoom Out, Show All etc.
By setting the parameter of 'menu' to false, this is normally shortened to 1 or 2 options. (I don't want the user to be able to zoom in etc.)
However, this code doesn't seem to have any effect on the MSS?
<code>params.menu = "false";</code>
Ok, now I see what you mean, but this is beyond my expertise.
Christoph
OK, no problem.
Thanks for your previous help. :)
