    Hi,

    I've purchased v2.0 for my own site but I'm struggling with getting it on the web so could use some help please.

    Whilst I have built my site in Dreamweaver, I have very basic HTML skills.

    I've read (and read and read) the user manual but I don't really understand.

    I thought you would simply embed a SWF.

    Taking it from the top do I have to create on the server the folder structure and place my images in an image folder?

    Do I then upload the xml file (code pointing to where the images are located) ?

    It makes reference to a swf file but I'm not sure where this is or how/where it is created?

    Thanks.

    An XML file is required to control the slideshow. The XML file specifies to the swf where to look for the images. The .swf file referenced is located in the download package in the html folder.

    Thanks. So for clarity.

    I have set up the folder structure on the server side and I need to place the XML & SWF files into the slideshow folder (created) on the server.

    I then write my XML file as per what I downloaded adding in my file references.

    In my web page, I have used Dreamweaver to place the SWFO file where I want it to feature. This is the SWF that was downloaded.

    Is this correct as it hasn't worked? - Please have a look at the folder structure I have created. I have "print screen" and uploaded the image.

    Also the XML file - can you confirm that the coding is correct.

    Many thanks.

    Just looking at your pictures of your files, you are not directing the swf to the image files. perhaps this will help. otherwise, we would need to see actual examples.

    Unfortunately didn't work and this is out of the user manual I believe.

    Beginning to think it's a waste of time and money to be honest. I'm a novice and perhaps it's a little above me. I would think that it's probably the way I'm trying to embed the swf into the index.

    Is there anything else that could be done? When you say "see actual examples" what do you mean?

    Thanks.

    An actual website for us to visit to see what errors occur would be helpful. The code you were using was straight out of the manual but you didn't have your images like in the manual. According to YOUR file structure, you did not use the albums folder but your code called or it. Are you getting anything to show? Blank spot? Some type of error? I don't know anything about dreamweaver but the code in the download package is enough to get a slideshow working. Using dreamweaver only complicates things but once you get it working, it should be good. Try searching "dreamweaver" in this forum. It might provide the answers you seek.

    I'm new to monoslideshow and I'm going to be using it on my website. One question I have is with the physical size of the view and the aspect ratio of photographs. Does the size of the viewer and the size of the photo have to be the same? I would like to display both portrait and landscape photos, do I have to modify the images in order to display them in Monoslideshow? Also, if I would like to use the Ken Burns Effects, do I have to enlarge the photos beyond the size of the viewer?

    Thanks for any assistance you might be able to provide.

    OK.

    The site is www.lancehugginsltd.co.uk

    This is the code for the xml file:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <album itemPath="htdocs/slideshow/images" thumbnailPath="htdocs/slideshow/thumbnails">
    <contents>
    <image source="photo1.jpg" thumbnail="thumb1.jpg" />
    <image source="photo2.jpg" thumbnail="thumb2.jpg" />
    <image source="photo3.jpg" thumbnail="thumb3.jpg" />
    </contents>
    </album>

    Can you view source from the web page and check that I have the SWOF in the right location and that it is correct (code).

    Again I've also uploaded a screen print in Dreamweaver of my folder structure which can be found here www.lancehugginsltd.co.uk/folderstructure.jpg

    Thanks a lot for your help here, it's appreciated.

    Conks, in your XML your path to the images appear to be here

    <album itemPath="slideshow/images" thumbnailPath="slideshow/thumbnails">
    instead of here.

    <album itemPath="htdocs/slideshow/images" thumbnailPath="htdocs/slideshow/thumbnails">

    I cannot locate where your swfobject.js file is on your server either.

    I have created a swfobject.js file and uploaded. Where does this have to be stored on the server i.e which folder?

    How come this isn't covered in the installation manual?

    Thanks.

    Hi conks,
    if you have created an swfobject.js, you did something fundamentally wrong, as this should be taken unmodified from GoogleCode.
    I see two ways: You use the way to embed Flash movies your html editor (Dreamweaver?) uses, or you look at working examples like my site.
