    Hello,
I'm evaluating Mono Slideshow for a website project I'm working on. I'm impressed by the range of options available, but also slightly overwhelmed which is why I'm submitting this post in hopes of a quick answer from you Mono Slideshow experts.

Basically what I want to determine is can Mono Slideshow be configured as in this visual mockup?

the main thing I'm not sure about is getting the opacity in the frame of the viewer so that the underlying image shows through.

    Thanks,
    Aidan

just to clarify a few of the things I'm after:

    • the background image is separate from slideshow - i.e. slideshow sits on top of a bg image but border of slideshow box has opacity allowing bg image to partially show through
    • slightly rounded corners
    • ability to use different colours within text as in the heading shown
    • logo watermark in top corner (not essential as we may scrap this anyway)
    • thumbnail navigation - I've already found this can be done (i.e. 3 thumbnails on lower right)

    Hi,
    here is what I think.

    • the background image is separate from slideshow - i.e. slideshow sits on top of a bg image but border of slideshow box has opacity allowing bg image to partially show through ==> tricky. It is possible to make the background transparent, but partly transparent?
    • slightly rounded corners ==> Monoslideshow replaces a <div>. With HTML5, you have rounded corners, but otherwise not.
    • ability to use different colours within text as in the heading shown ==> no
    • logo watermark in top corner (not essential as we may scrap this anyway) ==> yes, check out the "mark" option.
    • thumbnail navigation - I've already found this can be done (i.e. 3 thumbnails on lower right) ==> yes.

    Hope this helps,
    Christoph

Thanks very much for your input Christoph!

If the background could be made totally transparent then I guess another semi transparent div layer could be placed underneath the flash object to provide the semi-transparent effect (and also perhaps the rounded outer corners) - do you think that would work?

Stacking divs when one of them is a Flash movie is a tricky thing. Simple z-index doesn't work in my experience, Flash is always on top - but that wouldn't hurt in what you plan to do.
What you always can do to achieve the same optical effect is to give MSS control over the whole page and use MSS's background image and mark file - that is, if you have a static background image.
